Wi-Fi

The WLAN / Wi-Fi  (Wireless Fidelity) is the modified version of LAN (Local area network) , basically It's a Combination of radio technlogy commonly used for wireless local area networking (WLAN) of devices which is based on IEEE 802.11 LAN Protocol.

It was first introduced December 1998 .
Wi-Fi is mainly design to use in desktops and laptops, smartphones and tablets, smart TVs, printers, digital audio players, digital cameras, cars and drones. Compatible devices can connect to each other over Wi-Fi through a wireless access point as well as to connected Ethernet devices and may use it to access the Internet.

Before we are going to buy a new smart phone we check their specification in the internet.
there are many websites who provide us the specification of Smart phone.
have you noticed in the Wi-Fi section something written like this (look at the image).

Have you thought What does it means . Today I will explain it what does it mean.

"802.11"

means The Wi-Fi Technology Available here

"802.11a" -
It can transfer between limited distance , for domestic use only 10 miter radius

"802.11b"

It can transmit data in long distance but some data loss & in long distance connection might be slow

"802.11g"

It's very fast can go for long distance but can't break wall

"802.11n"

Now this the combination of all these versions of Wi-Fi which is able to go long distance about 100 miter , able to pass through walls & and Data transfer speed is improved and now it's available on all smartphones. Introduced in 2009.    (Wi-Fi4)

"802.11ac"

The new upgraded version with High speed about 500mbps to 1gbps & high distance
This version first used on Apple devices. Introduced in 2014.
Next in Samsung's S Series devices (Wi-Fi5)
